I found the crescent roll recipe from over at How Does She a while ago. They looked easy and when I showed my Dad, he wanted to go for it. The recipe seemed daunting at first. If you notice my recipes are not difficult at all. They have simple ingredients and even more simple instructions. I broke this recipe down into a neat step by step process. Give them a go. They are really good. I’ve wanted to make them again and put a wedge of chocolate and some raspberries and bake them that way. Yum. Can you imagine how great they would taste?
10 cups flour
2 cups warm water
1 cup butter
1½ cups of milk – we used 2%
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon salt
2 tablespoons yeast
Add your milk, sugar and half of your butter to a large bowl and microwave for a few minutes.
Add 2 cups of flour.
Add the egg.
Add the salt.
In a measuring cup you will need to add the yeast, 2 cups warm water and 1 tablespoon sugar.
Allow everything to sit for a few minutes.
Wait for the yeast will bubble.
Add the yeast mixture to the sugar,& flour mixture.
Add the remainder of the flour which will be 8 cups one by one.
You will need to use your hands to mix the last bit.
Cover the bowl and allow to rise.
Butter your cookie sheets.
The dough should have doubled in size.
Sprinkle flour on the table.
Divide the dough into 4 equal balls.
Roll out one ball of dough.
Cover with a spoonful of butter.
Use a pizza cutter and divide the dough like a pizza.
First divide into 4 pieces. Divide those pieces again.
You will have 8 triangles.
Start with the wider edge of the triangle and roll down towards the tip.
Preheat your over to 350 degrees.
Leave your cookie sheets with the crescents on them on top of the stove to rise.
When they have risen again and have expanded across the baking sheet, put them in the oven.
Bake for 13 minutes or until golden.
Remove from oven and rub some more butter over the tops.
