2 cups rolled oats
1 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 package of dates
1/2 cup water
In a saucepan, cook the dates with water and baking soda. Cook on a medium temperature until the dates are soft and smooth.
Melt the cup of butter together with the brown sugar and rolled oats. Mix well.
Add 1/2 the dry mixture to a lightly buttered baking dish.
Add the date mixture.
Add the remainder of the dry ingredients and pat down.
Bake at 300 for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
